Premier International IB Continuum School hosted TEDx Premier Season 2 under the theme “Greatness Begins Here,” bringing four student speakers together with leaders from the worlds of technology, arts, sport, and business. From empathy and dyslexia to global opportunity, loneliness, and connection, the student talks turned personal experiences into ideas that invited a wider conversation. As the first school in Nepal to host a TEDx event, Premier continues to create a platform where young people can develop and share ideas of their own.
The four student speakers each took something personal and turned it into something others could reflect on. Anuj Kei Ghimire (Grade 5) explored empathy through the question of how we understand one another. Suvaan Bir Shrestha (Grade 7) spoke about his experience with dyslexia and the persistence required to learn differently. Ojaswi Shrestha (Grade 10) used a personal visa rejection as a starting point to question why a passport, something we are born with, can influence where we are allowed to go and what opportunities we can access. Prashiddhi Karki (IBDP 2) reflected on growing up as an only child, the loneliness intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the unexpected ways in which connection can find us.
The guest speakers brought four different perspectives to the same stage. Ms. Sharareh Bajracharya, Founder and Director of Srijanalaya, explored the role of creativity and the arts in education. Mr. Ajesh Koirala, CEO of eSewa Money Transfer, spoke about technology, innovation, and the human purpose behind financial services. Mr. Rabi Rajkarnikar, President of the Nepal Equestrian Association, connected the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect with personal growth and sport. Ms. Priti Sitoula, Miss Nepal 2003 and Managing Director of GEMS International, shared lessons from her own journey, encouraging young people to build themselves with purpose and resilience.
TEDx Premier Season 2 reflected Premier’s belief that meaningful learning can begin with a question, an experience, or an idea of a young person. Preparing for a live TEDx stage required students to question, reflect, communicate clearly, and stand behind their ideas with confidence. In this way, the event extended learning beyond the classroom and gave students the opportunity to engage with ideas through both personal reflection and public dialogue.
“Greatness Begins Here” became more than the theme of the event. It was visible in four students finding the courage to turn their experiences into ideas and share them with an audience. The stage gave them more than a microphone; it gave them the space to discover that their voices, and the ideas behind them, have a place in the wider world.
